A front moves over the upper South Island and onto the North Island this evening / overnight, with it comes showers with a few heavy falls possible in western regions. Cold temperatures tonight for inland South Island areas as skies clear up and a ridge extending out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea moves in.

Auckland & Northland
Showers, some heavy then clearing overnight as westerlies change southwest. Showers clearing Northland tomorrow morning.

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy periods with the odd shower possible, some overnight rain then
clearing as westerlies change southwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Waikato & Central North Island

Showers (some heavy) with westerly winds, clearing overnight with a
southwest change.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Eastern North Island

High cloud with west to northwest winds, a southwest change moves into the
Wairarapa later this evening bringing showers then further north
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Western North Island

Showers (some heavy about Taranaki) with northwesterly winds, showers clear
overnight with a southwest change.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Wellington

Cloudy periods with strong north to northwesterly winds, some brief rain
mid to late evening with a southerly change then clearing. Cloud breaks
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 8-9

Nelson

Any remaining showers clear this evening as winds change southwest. Skies
becoming clear by midnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Marlborough

Showers about southern and coastal Marlborough clear later this evening,
elsewhere mainly dry and clear with west to southwest winds easing overnight.

Canterbury

Showers ease this evening then clear by midnight, southwesterlies
ease.

West Coast

Mainly clear skies with southwesterlies easing overnight. Cloud increases
about Fiordland overnight with showers there towards dawn.

Coastal Otago

Skies becoming mainly clear this evening, westerly winds ease
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Central Otago

Mainly clear skies with southwesterlies easing this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 0-1

Southland

Showers with brisk westerlies, showers easing and mostly clearing this
evening. Winds tend northwest overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6
