Our tropical low has its final run tonight and starts to move away to the east of the North Island, in behind it is a fairly strong south to southwesterly airflow. Wellington is coping it right now with gale southerly winds.

Northland
Rain, easing overnight to showers. Strong gusty west to southwest winds gusting to gale force in exposed areas.

Auckland
Showers, east to northeast winds change southwest this evening. Southwesterlies increases overnight becoming gusty.
Low tonight: 13

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Cloudy with the odd shower, easterly winds change west to southwest during this evening. Winds pick up overnight becoming brisk at times.
Lows tonight: 10-12

Eastern North Island
Some rain about Gisborne clears this evening for a time, cloudy skies. Rain about Hawkes Bay spreads back into Gisborne overnight as southwesterly winds freshen, the odd shower for Wairarapa with building southwesterlies.
Lows tonight: 11-12

Western North Island
Mostly cloudy with strong southerly winds tending a little more southwest overnight, the odd shower about.
Lows tonight: 9-12

Wellington
Strong to gale southerly winds with areas of rain.
Lows tonight: 10-11

Nelson
Any remaining showers clear this evening, southwest breezes.
Low tonight: 9

Marlborough
Areas of rain clears later this evening or overnight, gusty southerlies ease dying out by dawn.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Canterbury
Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, southwesterly breezes.
Lows tonight: 6-7

West Coast
Mainly clear with some high cloud, south to southwest winds.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Coastal Otago
Areas of drizzle clear this evening, cloudy periods continue overnight breaking a little towards dawn tomorrow. Easterly winds ease.

Mainly clear with some high cloud, light winds.
Lows tonight: 1-3

Southland
Mainly clear skies tonight, easterlies ease this evening.
