WeatherWatch.co.nz’s Summer Services – changes to our normal line up

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Summertime in New Zealand is just as busy weatherwise as it is in winter…for forecasters anyway!  Our attention goes from snow storms and rough weather to mostly focused on rain…anything that brings relief to dry areas, or washes out family fun.

The problem in summer is that rain is both loved and hated.  Those on holiday usually want dry, calm, hot, sunny weather.  Those still farming, growing and gardening often pray for both – a mix of sunny, hot, calm days – but at least one soaking day per week.

WeatherWatch.co.nz shifts focus from mid Dec to mid Jan to cover all of those on holiday – and those who are still working.

CHANGES OVER CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR

  • Our last weather video will be on Friday Dec 18th, although if the weather looks messy we might sneak one more in before Christmas.
  • To replace the weather videos over the Christmas/New Year break we’re bringing back RainWatch
  • RainWatch updates will be daily and covers the areas most exposed to rain, showers, drizzle or hail. if your region isn’t mentioned, your day will likely be dry.
  • 5am regional forecasts will become a Nationwide forecast, covering tourist and camping spots for this time.
