A Picton businessman is in the news today asking why his town is not on the state owned MetService forecast map.
John Reuhman is a member of the Picton Marlborough Sounds and Havelock Visitor Economy Steering Group, which wants the town included in MetService forecasts.
“Picton was the only land transport entrance and exit point on the South Island, yet it had never featured on the national weather” says John.
Luckily the private sector has detailed Picton weather forecasts covered – WeatherWatch.co.nz has forecasts for 1500 locations across New Zealand: Here’s the specific 10 day PICTON FORECAST, including % of rain.
New Zealand is the only country in the world to have two state owned weather forecasters, yet even when combined they provide just 100 public forecast locations – WeatherWatch.co.nz is a free service and receives no tax funding and provides 1500 forecast locations thanks to partnering with our global friends at Wunderground/Weather.com.
You can search for Picton, or the other 1500 locations, directly from the Forecast Map on our homepage – or by clicking here (ps – we don’t include all locations on the homepage map as that would be 1500 names we’d have to put on it!)
