WeatherWatch.co.nz contributors offer their take on the worst storm of spring

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Our readers have been inundating us with pictures and comments about the recent spring storm system, and we wanted to share some of the best contributions so far!

We asked on our Facebook page what the conditions had been like around the country, and we received dozens of responses from all parts of New Zealand.

Emma Thomas wrote: “It’s freezing! Blowing a gale and cold rain with it in bay of islands!”

Michelle Ikitule sent this photo:

with the comment “Thats what the sky looked like not long ago with a burst of hail”

While WW reader Michelle Fahey sent this pic of Mt Te Aroha:
Anna Downie told us: Had Hail in Wainui, heard thunder in Glenfield and heard massive gales the night before last around 2:15am”

Regular contributor Zelda Wynn told us that it started hailing not long after this amazing cloud formation was snapped in Auckland yesterday:

It wasn’t all bad everywhere though – with this coming from Melissa Hill: “been hot and sunny in palmy all day!!!”

Palmerston North then clearly the envy of the rest of the country…though it may not last long – with the weather expected to worsen into and through the weekend across much of the country.
