We have a warm start to the weekend thanks to a sub-tropical northerly flow across New Zealand boosting temperatures into the low to mid-20s.
A cold front on Friday will move up the West Coast then cross the North Island overnight Friday and early Saturday.
Across Saturday, New Zealand will see showers fading across the day (most of them in the west) with a westerly wind blowing.
These winds will tilt more north west by Saturday night and into Sunday.
Across Sunday, another classic spring set-up with a cold front moving in and mild nor’westers give way to colder southerlies.
Monday, across New Zealand, looks wintry, thanks to southerlies and a large area of low pressure.
