Tropical Cyclone Winston has weakened further to a category 2 storm and it’s still tracking towards New Zealand, however the computer models are still at odds as to how it might impact us between Sunday and Wednesday.
The centre of the low may not impact New Zealand directly, but it may help generate a band of heavy rain.
On Friday we’ll have more details about whether or not a direct hit is likely – the models do not agree on this, still…and it’s been over two weeks now.
Philip Duncan takes a closer look at the latest forecast and various tracks for Winston – plus the weather around New Zealand until Sunday.

When was this filmed? Because i see both the GFS and the ECMWF both show the system not coming down to New Zealand?
