More slow moving heavy downpours are affecting parts of the North Island today with drizzly falls (and isolated heavy falls) into the South Island.
The forecast for New Zealand remains similar for the next day or two – but a giant storm in South Australia is coming our way this Sunday.
While a storm isn’t expected here, as you’ll see in the video, there may still be downpours heavy enough to cause localised flooding.

Just had thunder and lightning pass over Hawera which has made my day! I cannot get over how still it is. Not a breath of wind, which is interesting for Hawera. It is always windy or breezy here. The rain has been steady and moderatly heavy. The other interesting thing was while the thunderstorm was over us our breath was foggy so it is a humid system.

Hey there, thanks very much for the update – sounds like great weather! Oddly, very calm across many parts of New Zealand in places normally quite windy. We have had a very odd run of weather (for this time of the year) since the equinox a week ago. Next week looks much windier with westerlies! Enjoy today 🙂
Cheers
