New Zealand has two cold fronts moving north this week, the coldest one today is impacting Southland and Otago and will spread northwards into the southern and eastern North Island on Wednesday as it fades out.
By Thursday the next one arrives in the south west corner of the South Island and also weakens as it moves north. The weekend ahead looks dry but a few daytime downpours are possible inland, especially in the North Island’s central areas.
Into Christmas Day and it looks hot in the east of both islands north of Canterbury, wet on the West Coast with some spillover of cloud and showers into Otago and Southland for a time and northern and western parts of the North Island look like a mix of sun and cloud with warm, humid, nor’west winds.
We’re updating the Christmas Day forecast in all of our weather videos this week! Next video update around noon Wednesday.
