A large low pressure system is currently crossing the country and will clear New Zealand by the weekend.
This means more heavy showers, strong to gale winds and possibly a few isolated thunder and hail storms especially in northern and western areas.
Meanwhile, the lower South Island has a polar snap – with snow falling to a few hundred metres on Thursday or Friday AM.
