Weather Video: Settled and mostly sunny then fronts return on the weekend

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Today sees a ridge extend over much of New Zealand bringing mainly sunny and settled weather. Temperatures will start to feel quite summer like for many getting into the low to mid 20’s across inland parts of the South Island especially, perhaps even late 20’s for inland parts of Southland and Otago.

Friday is still looking like a fairly reasonable day for most although a northwesterly airflow does build across the lower South Island ahead of a front which moves onto Southland later in the evening or overnight. This front continues northwards on Saturday reaching the lower North Island later in the evening.

Sunday sees a west to southwesterly airflow lie across the country bringing cloudy areas and the odd shower in the west while it’s drier out east for the most part, just a shower or two possibly affecting Southland and Otago at times.
