A front from the west is moving in this Friday to Sunday and will bring relief to some places that haven’t had proper rain in a month. But there’s a catch: The front will fall apart considerably as it crosses New Zealand.
This means rain clouds will break apart and we’ll have very “hit and miss†downpours.
Rain starts on the West Coast on Friday and sets in across Saturday. By Sunday the front moves into the North Island but then falls apart.
There will be a few showers/downpours in the western side of the North Island and perhaps again in the upper North Island on Monday. Next week we see daytime downpours again inland but perhaps more interestingly a cooler southerly flow spreads in to areas that have been over 10 degrees warmer than average lately (like Central Otago).
