The third tropical cyclone in a matter of weeks is expected to come into the New Zealand area this weekend and may impact land, although modelling is still not locking in the future path.
The storm will be named “Hola†most likely on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest by the Fiji Met Service.
American tracking has the storm just missing New Zealand to the east at the weekend while European data today shows a direct hit to Northland. With Gita the American tracking was the most accurate but like with even the best sports team being number 1 last time doesn’t mean they will be perfect this time around. So the precise tracking isn’t yet known but all North Islanders should be monitoring the latest on this tropical low which has now formed near Vanuatu and Fiji.
