The warmer than average pattern continues over most parts of the country thanks to westerly quarter winds from Australia.
In the days ahead a large high from the Tasman Sea will cross New Zealand bringing mainly dry, calm, weather.
Temperatures may drop just a little in some areas but they jump back up again by Sunday as the next big nor’wester moves through.
The weekend high departs the eastern North Island by Monday and by Tuesday a large rain band and low crosses the entire country with, wait for it, more windy westerlies behind it.
