High pressure is the dominating force at the moment, albeit high pressure containing some low cloud.
Most of the main centres may well avoid rain for the rest of the week at least, as the approaching sub-tropical low may be held at bay until the weekend.
Patchy rain is on the way for the far north however by Friday, while the rest of the country continues to enjoy a clear end to winter.
