We have a new tropical cyclone today north of New Zealand around Vanuatu. Cyclone Oma was named by the Fiji Met Service and will linger for a number of days around Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
The cyclone is very slow moving and may grow even bigger next week over the Coral Sea near New Caledonia – but it currently poses no direct threat to New Zealand. There are two other tropical lows we are monitoring.
Back in NZ and those needing rain only have a few isolated showers in the forecast. There are a couple of cold fronts coming over the next few days as well.
