Several southerly airflows are currently sitting over the country, with a high in the Tasman funneling arctic winds across both islands this week.
A low sitting in the Pacific to our east is also ramping up the pressure across New Zealand, with Southern climes in the gun first of all.

No doubt anticyclone will take a week to arrive from the tasman,skit across the country in less than 24 hours and stall east.
