A large high pressure system is slowly moving on to New Zealand at the moment with light winds and clearing skies.
Overnight tonight and into Wednesday morning the South Island is looking colder than usual while the North Island will have a colder night on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The high crosses New Zealand over Thursday and Friday.
By the weekend a cold front moves up the West Coast bringing rain on Saturday there then just showers to the North Island’s western region on Sunday.
