We have both Nelson and Auckland Anniversary weekends this weekend with over half the country taking Monday off.

Australia is in the middle of a heatwave with Melbourne today forecast to reach 43 degrees. Some of this heat will drift across the Tasman Sea this weekend boosting temperatures into the 30s in eastern and inland areas of both islands. In fact Nelson might reach 33 degrees on Monday.

Next week sees mostly dry weather around New Zealand but some wet weather down towards Fiordland and South Westland. Most places on holiday on Monday look dry, fairly sunny and hot.

There may be cloudy weather at times in the west of both islands due to the westerly quarter set up.
