Weather video: August ends in showers

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Showers, mostly for western and southern parts of the country, will dominate this week.

A cool southerly change arrives in the Deep South on Wednesday afternoon, and will reach Wellington by Thursday morning.

However it may not impact the upper North Island, where the 5th consecutive weekend low is expected to develop.

Metservice keeps saying that snow in inland cantbury is a possibility what about chch

WW Forecast Team on 27/08/2013 4:20am

Not even close – double digit highs this week in Chch and snow levels wont be near sea level.  Can’t imagine there would be much snow for inland Canterbury either, except for above 4 or 500m.  Hail possible on Thursday morning in Chch, any snow on the ranges/hills would most likely fall early Thursday with that cold south west change – but brief for Canterbury.

Cheers
Phil
