Weather to the west – Situation & outlook for Thursday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Ex Cyclone Ruben is to our northeast – and while it won’t affect the country’s weather too much it may have an impact on our swell on the eastern side of the upper North Island – while our main weathermakers are sitting to the west.

Thursday will see a low pressure system coming out of the Tasman Sea start to impact on the North Island – behind a front that will make landfall by late afternoon.
The airflow is a little mixed, with winds from the southerly quarter in the South Island and a northerly quarter airflow in the north – though both islands should stay mostly dry.

The weekend is a different story however – check out Philip Duncan’s latest weather video for more details about the incoming lows!
