We are on top of a ridge with a 360 view out here in Army Bay, at the very end of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and are having the most insane gale force winds out here. A neighbour and I went out on our decks to see what was going on and could see clear blue sky above us with cloud all around the edge of the horizon – it was like we were in the eye of something. Could we be?

You pretty much are in the eye (although there isn’t really an eye). But the centre is almost on you (its between Whangaparaoa and Whangarei)

It’s really hot in Weymouth atm the humidity has crept up to about 95% and it’s stopped raining and the sun has just come out from behind the clouds it feels like a sauna outside it will probably be a hot night again. I’m looking forward to some nice warm weather over the next few days fingers crossed

had to cut our camping trip a day early was meant to go home tomorrow but it was heavy rain near hunterville. In opiki our water tank has been empty for about 4 weeks and now it is half full so we have had a decent amount of rain and it is still persistent rain. not much wind at this stage, but is very cold.

As at 2pm 23rd, SE winds now averaging 56Kmh (10pm 22nd 35kmh), gusting 76Kmh (10pm 22nd 45kmh). There is potential for winds to continue to increase in strength this afternoon.

As mentioned on the 22nd, no wind warnings had been released.
A watch was put in place at 10.00am this morning (strong winds for Taranaki), however, winds are continuing to strengthen across North Taranaki. The sooner wind warnings are released, the better.

Were in Tuakau have had heavy rain all night and most of the morning and its been a little cold at about 11am the rain stopped and all the windows fogged up on the outside, i thought this was a odd as usually condensation forms on the inside as the air temp inside is usually hotter than outside air temp. When opened door and stepped out I was hit by incredibly warm moist air just like the tropics. The inside air temp felt about 4 degrees cooler than outisde air temp, how weird.
Its 12:41pm and the winds have just picked up and the rain has just returned…Weird Weather…..

The sun just came out and the cicadas have started up. Still a bit of wind – northerly and warm.
