Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.

HEAVY RAIN WEST COAST, STRONG NW COOK STRAIT

A front pushing northwards over the South Island today brings heavy rain for the West Coast, Buller while getting some rain this evening, it would have eased.

Expect strong northwesterlies through Cook Strait today with a risk of gales, easing this evening.

WARM IN THE EAST AND NORTH

Temperatures for eastern regions and much of the North Island are in the mid to late teens today thanks to a northwesterly airflow, for Canterbury it starts to cool off a little this afternoon though as winds change to the south.

FRONT STILL MOVES IN ON THURSDAY
