Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
EASTERN NORTH ISLAND – PLACE TO BE
Very nice weather for the east coast of the North Island today, expect mostly sunny weather although there will be some high cloud. Light winds tend to the east this afternoon then cloud thickens this evening with southerly winds, overnight showers or drizzle.
Highs today should reach into the mid twenties.
RAIN NORTH OF AUCKLAND THIS EVENING
Expect a few light showers for Northland today then turning to rain this evening north of Auckland as a front moves in from the northwest.
Meanwhile Southland, Fiordland and parts of Otago have rain this morning, easing to showers this afternoon then clearing away. Canterbury then eventually Marlborough can expect a few showers or drizzle patches to spread northwards this afternoon with southerly winds.

NORTHEASTERLIES STRONG ON WED / THU
Later on Wednesday and into Thursday expect a strong east to northeasterly airflow over New Zealand, eastern parts of the country feel the winds more on Thursday.
The upper North Island especially sees a reasonable going over by these easterlies. We don’t expect any major issues with these winds but any marine activities may have to be put off.
