Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
NICE DAY IN THE EAST
New Zealand has a northeasterly airflow over it today although winds tend more onshore this afternoon for the eastern South Island. In generally conditions in the east are mostly sunny with some high cloud about, temperatures should be warm getting into the late teens, possibly early twenties about Canterbury.
Temperatures for the upper North Island get into the late teens today too but skies are a little cloudy with the odd shower about.
RAIN FOR THE WEST COAST MAY BE HEAVY WEDNESDAY
A north to northeasterly airflow sees showers turn to rain for the West Coast of the South Island on Wednesday morning, rain may be heavy at times from afternoon.

SOUTHERLIES EASTERN SOUTH ISLAND ON THURSDAY
The eastern South Island sees rain on Thursday, starting in the south from morning then reaching into Canterbury late afternoon or evening.
Some snow is likely in the ranges too above 600m for the far south then up into Canterbury overnight.
