Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
WARM IN THE EAST
Temperatures for the eastern and southern South Island reach into the late twenties or possibly even hitting 30 in some spots thanks to a northerly quarter airflow.
The North Island does pretty good also reaching into the mid to late twenties.
RAIN ARRIVES IN NORTHLAND TONIGHT
While there are a few showers for parts of the upper North Island today it’s not till this evening when rain moves into Northland, perhaps becoming heavy overnight.
Friday sees rain spread southwards with heavy falls continuing about the upper North Island.
Metservice has a rain warning out for Northland here.
FRONT MOVES ONTO LOWER / EASTERN SOUTH ISLAND ON FRIDAY
While the rain mentioned above is spreading south down over the North Island the South Island gets some precipitation thanks to a cold front moving in. While it won’t be a silver bullet any rain is welcome for the eastern South Island which is looking quite dry at the moment.
