Here’s what is making the weather headlines this weekend.
TEMPERATURES GETTING WARMER
Temperatures over the next three days are likely to progressively get warmer across New Zealand, especially in the east and north as a northerly airflow gradually builds. Tuesday becomes cool again for the eastern South Island as winds change to the south.
NEXT FRONT ON MONDAY
A front moves onto the South Island later on Monday bringing rain to the West Coast, this moves northwards overnight and into Tuesday where the front also weakens. As you can see in the map below for Tuesday at 7:00pm, the front has basically fizzled out.
WEATHER ON SUNDAY
Expect some cloud for the upper North Island with east to northeasterly winds, perhaps a shower for Northland especially in the east. The rest of the North Island is mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud possible.
The South Island has cloud for the West Coast, some drizzle about Fiordland. Elsewhere is mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, warm temperatures in the east.
