Here’s what is making the weather headlines this weekend.
WEATHER ON SUNDAY
A south to southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand with a front moving onto the lower South Island in the morning.
North Island
Partly cloudy skies, light winds tend westerly in the west, easterly in the east. Showers move into western regions during the morning then spreading a little further eastwards into the afternoon. A few isolated showers could be heavy then easing later on.
South Island
Cloud in the east, Nelson and Marlborough breaks to sunny spell; Isolated showers develop in the afternoon, one or two could be heavy then easing later on, showers mainly about inland hills and ranges. Sunny at first about the far south then showers push in during the morning with southerly winds, showers in the afternoon about the hills of North Otago through to Mid Canterbury may be heavy with a risk of thunder then easing and clearing at night. The West Coast stays mainly dry but Fiordland sees showers, clearing at night.
