Weather headlines (x2): Some southern rain on Monday

Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.

RAIN ON MONDAY – SOUTH ISLAND

A front is still forecast to move onto the South Island on Monday, rain about Southland and Otago in the morning then the front moves northwards reaching the upper South Island overnight. Nelson and Marlborough stay dry all day long.

Overnight showers also push up the east coast of the North Island with southerly winds.

WEATHER ON SUNDAY

A large high covers New Zealand still on Sunday, the North Island has a mainly sunny day with light winds. Northerlies through Cook Strait do become strong though.

The South Island is mostly sunny too however south of Greymouth along the West Coast expect some cloud, a few showers for South Westland and more so Fiordland. Northwesterly winds freshen up about alpine areas also.

A warm day in the east with temperatures reaching into the mid twenties, most of the North Island gets into the high teens or low twenties. Only the West Coast Greymouth southwards has a slightly cooler day thanks to the aforementioned cloud, temperatures reach into the mid to late teens.
