Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
A TOUCH OF INSTABILITY
Inland North Otago through to inland Canterbury in the east has a few showers develop this afternoon thanks to some instability in the atmosphere. These types of situations are conducive to thunderstorms although today the instability may not be strong enough so just a low risk exists.
For the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty there is a slightly higher chance of of a rumble this afternoon.

WARMEST REGIONS
The warmest parts of New Zealand today will be Hawkes Bay, Gisborne and Northland. Temperatures should reach into the late teens or early twenties for these regions. The eastern North Island should see the nicest and driest weather.
HIGH FOR THE WEEKEND
This week is going to see various fronts move through from the southwest at times, nothing overly strong then as next weekend rolls around a big anticyclone should push in bringing settled and mostly sunny weather.
