Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
ISOLATED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS – NORTH ISLAND
Low pressure, some cold upper air and converging winds at ground level means isolated thunderstorms develop for the North Island this afternoon. Isolated must be stressed, it means most probably won’t see any, but there is a chance you could.
Storms could form anywhere from Northland down through to Manawatu in the west, also about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon especially about the ranges.
Check out today’s thunderstorms risk from Metservice here.
HEAVY RAIN IN THE EAST
A front feeding into the eastern North Island this morning moves southwards and with it goes rain which may be heavy. Rain about Wairarapa eases this afternoon then there is the potential for some heavy rain this afternoon for Marlborough.
Watches and warnings from Metservice regarding this rain can be viewed here.
WEST COAST AND FAR SOUTH THE PLACES TO BE
Settled, still and mainly sunny weather can be expected for the West Coast and Southland / Otago today, there may be some mist or fog this morning and again overnight about the far south but beyond that it is pretty good.
Enjoy!
