Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
SHOWERS IN THE EAST CLEAR
As a high pressure system moves in the last remaining showers clinging to eastern coastal parts will clear away, showers clear Banks Peninsula and coastal Kaikoura early this morning then clearing the eastern North Island later this afternoon.
LAST OF THE FROSTS SUNDAY MORNING
A frosty start this morning for many parts around New Zealand, a frost risk exists again tomorrow morning however the risk retreats a little further away from coastal spots then finally on Sunday morning a risk presents itself again but this time it’s further inland.
By Monday morning even though it will be a bit cold to start frosts should just be avoided for most apart from alpine areas. For more on any potential frosts please visit this page here.
LOW MOVES IN FROM THE NORTH 13TH / 14TH OCTOBER
A low (provided weather models stay consistent) may move down from the north around the 13th or 14th October. As we can see in the “Precipitation percentage of normal” image below some wet weather is showing for the upper North Island. This map runs from the 5th – 13th October and the light blue shading for Coromandel, Auckland and Northland will be because of this low on the 13th, till then the North Island stays mainly dry.
The South Island has a mainly dry period of weather coming up also but a front does bring rain to the West Coast late Monday into Tuesday (10th / 11th October).
