> From the WeatherWatch archives

Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.

WHY NOT SAY, A FEW MORE THUNDERSTORMS?

Yes there is more instability in the mix today for both the South and North Islands. Check out the latest with today’s thunderstorm outlook from Metservice here.

WHO’S DRY

Showers or some rain affects many regions around the country today, Northland though could be dry and areas north of Napier along the east coast.

The South Island is looking a bit wet too, eastern regions more so from afternoon however Mid Canterbury northwards in the east looks to have a mainly dry day with warm temperatures.

NORTH ISLAND ON SATURDAY – RAIN

A front sliding in out of the Tasman Sea brings rain into the North Island on Saturday, a few days ago it looked like the upper South Island would get in on the action with this front too but plans have changed. At least eastern regions for the North Island should see some rain too especially south of about Napier. Gisborne looks to stay mainly dry.

The South Island sees showers for inland parts south of about Banks Peninsula, some of these may become heavy with thunderstorms in the afternoon.
