Weather headlines (x3) for Friday: Front brings rain, When does the mugginess ease? Rainfall update

Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.

FRONT BRINGS RAIN

A low in the Tasman Sea flings out a front into the western side of the North Island from this afternoon bringing rain, rain reaches into Nelson and Marlborough later this afternoon or evening then eventually moving southwards reaching into Canterbury.

Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury are still a bit dry at the moment so this rain will be welcome.

WHEN DOES THE MUGGINESS EASE?

For anyone who thinks it is a bit too humid at the moment, relief is on the way next week. The South Island sees the humidity start to drop from Tuesday then the North Island on Wednesday as a northerly airflow changes to the west.

The maps below show the humid air in blue colouring, drier air is green / yellow colouring.

RAINFALL UPDATE

The latest precipitation percentage of normal map as can be seen below shows most regions around New Zealand can expect average to wetter than average rainfall for the next seven days (through to Friday 25th November). Blue colouring below shows higher rainfall compared to normal, white is average and red is drier than average.
