Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.

A LIGHT FROST THIS MORNING – INNER SOUTH ISLAND

A bit chilly this morning for inland parts of the South Island thanks to clear skies and light winds, a frost is expected this morning for some.

WARM LOWER SOUTH ISLAND AND BULLER

An anticyclone brings settled weather to the South Island today, about the far south and for inland Buller temperatures reach into the late teens or early twenties this afternoon with mostly sunny conditions expected.

While parts of the upper North Island may reach temperatures in a similar range skies may not be as sunny.

GUSTY ENE WINDS EASTERN OTAGO TODAY, SPREADING TO CANTERBURY ON SATURDAY

With an anticyclone situated to the east of the South Island today east to northeasterly winds build for coastal parts of Otago today then these fresh if not strong winds develop about coastal Canterbury on Saturday, especially in the afternoon.

Northeasterly winds become strong about coastal Fiordland in the afternoon on Saturday also.
