Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
A COOL DOWN TODAY
Temperatures for the South Island especially in the east will be cool today thanks to a southwesterly airflow, the eastern North Island steps down a few notches also. Waikato northwards however temperatures today are about the same as yesterday, getting into the late teens.
Then we look a little further afield to Sunday where some eastern regions will get into the mid twenties.
SETTLED THIS WEEKEND
With a large high starting to move in today it then covers New Zealand this weekend bringing mainly settled, mostly sunny and dry weather.
Fiordland does start to pick up a few light showers on Sunday though. West to northwesterly winds may also pick up a little through the Main Divide on Sunday and northerlies through Cook Strait will be strong.
SOME RAIN ON MONDAY – SOUTH ISLAND
The front you can see lurking to the southwest of New Zealand on the map for Sunday moves northwards over the South Island on Monday, this brings some rain. The lower and eastern North Island sees showers later in the day also as southerlies push northwards.
