There has been a lot of focus on the weather in the tropics this week but the weather here in New Zealand will be anything but tropical tonight thanks to a cool southerly change that is spreading up the country.
Overnight lows almost everywhere will be in the single digits tonight.
Christchurch and Taupo are both expected to start the day on 3 degrees tomorrow morning with the lower North Island and inland Bay of Plenty and Waikato on just 4 or 5.
Coastal areas in the east should fair a little better with lows in the early double digits. WeatherWatch.co.nz believes Auckland will drop to around 10 or 11 however some sheltered western and southern areas may also drop into the late single digits.
Wellington is expected to drop to the upper single digits but inland areas may drop as low as 4.
The colder overnight weather will be short lived with a little more heat arriving tomorrow night as that southerly dies out.
A large high is moving in from the Tasman Sea and should bring settled weather to most regions, especially the North Island

Sorry, we don’t usually check comments between midnight and 6am – did you get a frost in the end or did the clouds roll in?
