The Government forecaster has just released a severe weather warning for the Bay of Plenty and Rotorua… 

Heavy Rain Warning for the Bay of Plenty east of Te Puke:

Expect periods of heavy rain and some thunderstorms through to early Tuesday morning, followed by showers until Tuesday afternoon. In the 18 to 24 hours from 9am Monday 70 to 100mm of rain is expected with localised heavy thundery downpours of 25mm per hour or more, especially during this afternoon and evening.
