Today is shaping up to be a warmer day across the country as a northerly starts to develop.
Most places that had a cool day yesterday are already a degree or two warmer. In the South Island Wanaka and Nelson are already at 21 degrees. In the North Island and Wellington has a northerly and 16 degrees.
Hawkes Bay is also warmer already at 20 degrees.
The next few days should see settled weather in the South Island with average temperatures returning under a large high pressure system. The North Island should also be relatively settled however some scrappy fronts may deliver a few showers and cloudy periods to a number of regions.

Back to ‘normal’ conditions now here in West Melton. Down to 12C and overcast with a keen southerly blowing and sheets of drizzle moving across.

Overcast again here in Canterbury this morning but with a light NE which makes a change for the constant SW we have had over past weeks.
However another SW is due this afternoon which may be the last for a while, I hope and then back to the usual predominant NE.
