Another surge of cold, wintry, weather moves into the lower South Island tonight with sub-zero wind chill and another sprinkling of snow to lower levels.
That cold air then moves north and sits over the country for several days with severe frosts next week in the south.
But the very north of NZ will have a low pressure system to deal with, bringing in a burst of windy easterlies and some wet weather from Sunday to Tuesday.
