VIDEO: Winter’s last week is a cold one for NZ

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The final week of winter on the meteorological calendar is a cold one for NZ – but milder, sub-tropical, airflows come in this weekend – with some pockets of rain and showers too. Basically the last week of winter for NZ is dominated by high pressure and below average overnight lows – classic winter showing up at the very end of the season after a very mild beginning!

This weekend low pressure from the Tasman Sea moves closer to NZ as high pressure departs to our east.

Australia has a few showers in the east and the south this week from weak low pressure and a fairly weak cold front too. We have your forecast through to Saturday.

*PROGRAMMING NOTE* We have no weather video this TUESDAY (tomorrow) or THURSDAY this week due to travel and thanks to much quieter weather! BONUS – Our next ClimateWatch update is out later this week.

Did you know there are 4 different end dates to winter / start to spring? More details here.
