It’s the countdown to Labour Weekend and the forecast this week is driven by windy westerlies which can swing cold SSW and mild NNW.
For the most part the week kicks off about normal temperaturewise but a colder change develops over Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds will be blustery across New Zealand with snow on the Southern Alps.
This set up remains all week and as we go into the long weekend too. We haven’t yet 100% locked in Labour Weekend but it looks like we’ll see a rapid warm up in places that have been cold this week, so there is one positive.
However we do expect the weekend to be a bit unsettled with more westerly quarter winds and perhaps a cold front.
