VIDEO: Wind, rain & some brief snow as spring westerlies arrive

Temperatures are mostly above average around the country as windy weather moves in. The windy weather will be off and on over the next week or so with severe gales at times especially around the South Island and the lower North Island.

Windy weather will go nationwide at times although the very north of the North Island generally looks to be least affected.

The temperatures are certainly above average for many places over the next 24 hours with Thursday looking especially windy around the country and again on Saturday – but cooler air arrives over Friday and Saturday for a time. Next week also looks windy with another surge of gale westerlies coming through at the start of next week.
