NZ is living on the edge of high pressure at the moment meaning it’s not too stormy but not overly dry and calm either. The showers and coastal winds will continue off and on for the coming days, all ahead of a large low pressure zone expected to engulf NZ for much of next week.
While the low is large, there were no signs of it being too stormy at the time of this update – obviously we’ll be updating again on Friday to see how it’s shaping up. But there is a lot of high pressure nearby out there too – giving Australia some calm weather but also shutting off southerlies into NZ for a time next week too.
