VIDEO: Tropical Cyclone Fili north of NZ + cold change for southern NZ

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A Tropical Cyclone has been named today near New Caledonia by the Fiji MetService – and it’s called Fili.

The current tracking does take it into the NZ area next week, although it’s not yet locked in. Yesterday the modelling was showing the storm staying north of NZ, but updates today are now giving the option of the storm directly coming into the NZ area.

Nothing locked in yet, so it remains ‘one to watch’. Meanwhile, at the other end of the screen, we’re focused on a colder southerly about to come into Southland and then up the country over the next 48 hours.

At the time of recording this video the Fiji Met hadn’t named the storm – it is now named “Fili”.
