A tropical cyclone has tonight been named DOVI by the Fiji MetService near New Caledonia and southern Vanuatu – and it’s tracking towards NZ.
The storm is expected to intensify on Friday and Saturday before weakening as moves into the NZ area on Sunday and Monday.
Despite it weakening with winds, the ex-tropical cyclone will still likely dump a lot of rain across an already saturated North Island. At this stage Taranaki over to Hawke’s Bay may get the most rain – but this is still being worked out.
We have the latest through to Tuesday…

Once again, a very clear, well presented large area forecast thanks. Good level of tech detail
