VIDEO: Sub-tropical low near northern NZ one to watch

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A storm will develop this weekend just shy of the North Island and will linger there until Thursday of next week.

The worst of the weather will be just offshore, but the system will be so close to northern NZ it’s certainly one to closely monitor with severe weather risks.

Further south high pressure will be dominating with a surge of colder, frostier, weather in the lower South Island by Sunday/Monday.

Over in Aussie showers and a cooler sou’east flow affects the eastern side while next week a windy northerly will make way for a low and a colder, windier, sou’west flow for places like Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart.
