A cold front is moving up NZ with rain and then a temperature drop behind it. This wet weather will mostly slide up the eastern side of NZ, bringing a wet Thursday and Friday to Hawke’s Bay.
Elsewhere we see rain around Canterbury and Wairarapa too, also Gisborne. Showers are forecast in other regions.
The set up for NZ continues on across the Tasman with eastern Australia also getting plenty of E to SE winds along with showers/rain accumulating. In the tropics, some low pressure near Fiji to monitor but for now poses no threat to either Fiji or NZ.

Whoa something we on the east coast don’t need is more rain. The clean up has started but will be hindered by the rain.

Hi Gloria
Friday looks wet, there could even be some heavy rain but more so about eastern Waikato, Coromandel and western Bay Of Plenty, once you get into eastern BOP it eases off. I would keep an eye on our warnings page to see if Metservice put anything out over the next few days or use our rain maps here to see where heavy rain may be and at what time.
Saturday night is not so bad, just a few showers about.
You could also visit out page ruralweather.co.nz, like this page here
You can see where rain and wind peaks, just jot in different town’s / centres on your journey and you’ll see what type of weather is like at each point.
Cheers
Aaron

Hi Phil – heavy rain in Hawke’s Bay may cause more road closures on Thursday/Friday – it’s hard to say for sure what conditions will be like for you.

Kia Ora,
We’re needing to drive from Welly to Auckland on Friday morning, do you reckon it’ll be alright or will it be heavy rainfall through the region heading north? (SH 1 to 32 back to 1). Cheers

Kia ora, the drive from Wellington to Auckland will have some wet weather but not the entire time – most of the rain will be in the east (Hawke’s Bay) rather than west over SH1 – but it may be patchy along large portions of SH1 (but heaviest looks east).
