VIDEO: Queen’s Birthday Weekend weather brings some localised flooding risks

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Northern and western parts of New Zealand are exposed to some heavy but localised areas of rain this long weekend, with the risk of flooding in some areas.

Areas most exposed to heavy rain will be parts of the West Coast, Nelson and Northland.

Some rain will fall in Canterbury – but the totals are much lower than earlier this week, plus this rain event is coming from the west and north – not the east as we saw this week.

The airflows will be milder too – due to the sub-tropical connection. Despite the heavy rain – there will still be some large areas that are either dry or mainly dry.
