Heavy rain and very high humidity continues to affect the upper North Island with Auckland experiencing some very tropical conditions and thunderstorms also popping up here in there in the upper north.
Further south there’s a lot more dry weather with sunnier conditions. As we head through the next few days we can expect the rain in the north to gradually fade away with westerlies generally for the South Island due to a large low well south of NZ in the Southern Ocean.
As for Cyclone Gita the models have high confidence of the cyclone moving into the Tasman Sea area by the weekend but we’re still not further down the track of locking in precisely what might happen for New Zealand – it’s likely more humidity and rain for the upper North Island but as for severe weather we can’t lock that in until there’s a bit more confidence in all the various computer models we trust.
